Three assailants arrested by police forces, and a thief caught red-handed indulging in culinary and gadgetry theft was subject to severe bodily harm.

Notorious burglar Prosper was told he may spend years behind bars for his astounding one-man crime spree of burgling. He was caught looting the sumptuous dwelling near the shores of River Wouri, a few walk from the Port Authority of Douala, Wednesday, July 11, when gendarmes acting from a tip off hemmed in on the residence by 5 a.m.

The thief fought back security officers, but was seriously maimed in the process. The incident occurred when the thief was overpowered by the gendarmes. He was whisked to the Military Hospital in Bonanjo for medical attention after which he will be investigated and charged.

Wondje Sosso Jean Michel, the owner of the dwelling was later in the afternoon assailed by a thug of three men. Armed with machetes and other rudimentary weapons like sticks, the aggressors destroyed the valuables in the residence; pulled down decorative structures in the compound and freely slapped his face. Mobile Intervention Police moved by the situation's near escalation as it began to gain popularity within the neighbourhood, arrested Djobtassou Vayindi Augustin, 20; Maliki Mathieu, 20; and Alaikai Gaouna for spearheading the attack.

Prosper, the career criminal who is only about 22 years old and purported to be addicted to stealing in many homes, residents say they will be deeply alarmed to see this prolific burglar back on the streets, and if this should happen it will be insulting to his victims, especially that he had in instances escaped proper punishment for the appalling crimes committed. Some residents say it is not the first time that he has been subject to controversial measures.
