Thieves steal police officer’s loaded firearm

Some two alleged bandits, Mayen Men Joel and Difang Asong Dynalie, alias Fally, have been arrested in Ekondo-Titi town.

Their arrest was masterminded by the Divisional Officer D.O, for Ekondo-Titi, Edwin Nkenya Ngwana, in collaboration with the Forces of Law and Order, who mounted a manhunt in search of the men of the underworld.

According to the Gendarmerie Brigade Commander, Jouffo Romain Marcel, the bandits who were arrested recently, broke into the residence of a Police Officer, Eugene Chi Ngwanshi, chief of security of Ekondo-Titi territory and made away with one automatic firearm of mark “BERETTA”, which was loaded with ten bullets, two gas cylinders, a torch lamp, a bottle of Champagne and a bottle of whisky and a computer set.

The Brigade Commander disclosed that the police officer who happens to be the victim of the robbery and one of the suspects, Mayen Men Joel, are neighbours living in the same neighbourhood in Ekondo-Titi.

According to him, on that fateful day at about 6:45 pm, the police officer left his house to go and buy fuel for his generator due to power failure.

Immediately he left, the suspect Mayen Men Joel and his colleague Difang Asong Dynalie, who have been around waiting for such opportunity broke the officer’s door with an axe. While Mayen Men Joel was inside the house making away with the items, Difang Asong Dynalie, was outside for the lookout.

After they had succeeded in their mission, they shared the items. Difang took the automatic gun and a bottle of whisky while Mayen took the two gas cylinders, a bottle of Champagne and the torch lamp.

After a thorough investigation, the Brigade Commander narrated that, Mayen Men Joel was caught and taken in for interrogation where he admitted to have committed the crime with the help of Difang who is on the run. Adding that, they received a command from Douala to supply guns, while the demand for a gas cylinders was made by one Ndom Joseph from Ekondo-Titi.

Difang Asong who was in possession of the gun while escaping dropped it by the window of the Baptist Church Ekondo-Titi and was discovered by the pastor of the church the following morning.

The gas cylinders, whisky, Champaign and the torch lamp, were also retrieved from Ndom Joseph, who brought them. At press time, the search for Difang Asong Dynalie is still going on, while Mayen Joel and Ndom Joseph have been taken to the Kumba Principal prison, pending trial.
