The two traffickers were arrested around Ambam for illegally possessing and selling chimpanzee and gorilla skulls.

They were trapped by the Divisional Delegation of Forestry and Wildlife of the Ntem Valley with the help of forces of law and order.

The traffickers, a 38 year old man and 42 year old woman who is a mother of nine, were arrested around the Ambam market with 5 chimpanzee skulls, 1 gorilla skull and a pair of antelope horns.

Suspects say the male trafficker is a cocoa dealer who has been using his cocoa business as a licence for his illicit business.

He had been spotted by on-lookers, rubbing shoulders with poachers around Meyo Centre - a small village noted for the sale of bush meat.

The traffickers are presently under Gendarmerie detention in Ambam.

The operation comes at a time where a call to intensify the fight against wild life crime was recently made in Ebolowa by the Regional Delegation of Forestry and Wildlife.

According to wildlife law, chimpanzees and gorillas fall under the class of totally protected species, as such, traffickers of this category of primates are bound to face the forces of law and order.
