A woman whose name was given as Mimi is alleged to have injected a child with a substance believed to be petrol in Nkoabang. According to the reports, she called for the child around 10am while he was playing with some other children.
The child whose name was given as Yann was called by Mimi according to his elder brother.
Immediately Yann reached there, she placed her hand over his mouth to prevent him from screaming and injected him with the substance on his right arm.
According to Yanns older brother, his little brother came out crying with the stench of petrol all over him. When other family members confronted Mimi on the claims, she admitted to injecting the boy but claimed the child has been picking pepper from her garden and thus injected him as punishment.
One of Yanns family members stated that she could be mentally disturbed as she lost her five year old child about three months ago.
Her husband expressed disbelieve to his wife’s action when he was informed.
Mimi is currently in police custody while the child has been sent for treatment at the central hospital in Yaoundé.
