During the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Cameroon People's Democratic Movement (CPDM), on Tuesday, militants of the ruling party once again displayed through giant rallies and speeches, their solidarity and determination to fight, alongside their leader President Biya, the Nigerian Islamic sect Boko Haram.
In the 10 regions of the country, where the ceremonies took place, pro Biya comedians were all called to rally behind Paul Biya, Cameroon and the army, as well as behind the people of the Far North region who are victims of Boko Haram atrocities.
Jean Nkueté, the Secretary General of the Central Committee of the CPDM, who attended the ceremony in Yaounde, seized the pretext of the theme of this thirtieth anniversary, "the CPDM 30 years of service in Cameroon in promoting peace, unity, democracy and progress” to invite party militants to respect the set of sobriety imposed by the context of crisis in the country. Cameroon Concord understands the leaders of the ruling party, refused to take stock of the 33 years in power of the failed regime in Yaounde.
30 years after hopes were raised by the birth of the CPDM in Bamenda, North-West of the country, the main architects of the plan are in prison for embezzlement.
The ruling elite, seems more concerned about who takes over from Paul Biya. Tribalism, nepotism, cronyism, corruption, mismanagement are rising at catastrophic rapidity. The country has plunged into a state of moral decay, that young people have lost hope.
Unemployment has forced the active segment of the working population into exile. This is the part of the balance sheet that CPDM elites are presently using the fight against Boko Haram to help to mask.
