The first lady of Cameroon, Chantal Biya may be known for her humanitarian undertakings; but of recent she’s been in the spotlight gaining international attention more, for her unique hair style that sometimes can get short and long, rebellious yet elegant, unruly but controlled.
Chantal was the only African First Lady who drew the attention of most western media during the just ended U.S.-Africa Leaders’ Summit in Washington for no reason other than her bouffant hair.
“The first lady of Cameroon and her hair have touched down in D.C” the Washington Post headline screamed when President Biya and Chantal arrived in the U.S. for the Summit.
It is due to her burnt-papaya-hued hair which continues to fascinate that the western media have likened her to the Lady Gaga and Beyoncé of political wives. The New York Mag says “She is so diva-fierce we can hardly stand it. She proudly towers above her husband, thanks to her magnificent mane and platform heels.”
Before the Brazil FIFA World Cup, the online sports news outfit, Fusion Soccer, even joked that if the World Cup was judged on presidential style Chantal Biya would make the World Cup runneth over, adding that her hair even commands attention when she’s not facing you.
