On the reading attitude of contemporary youth

I have always been complaining that most of my potential readers do not actually read my articles. The reading attitude of contemporary youth is poor, and this has contributed to the low level of knowledge, brilliance and understanding among us. Also, many people claim that Africans do not love reading and they often qoute the popular saying: "...if you want to hide something from a black man, put it in a book...!"

But I disagree with such complaints about the poor reading attitude especially among contemporary youth. Because our individual reading attitude is somehow dependent on the kind of writing or material, since every one mostly reads what he is associated with. For instance, a Christian would certainly love reading the Holy Bible far more than the Quran. This is because the Bible is associated with him.

However, most youth of today shun reading progressive, important or relevant writings, but love reading the unwholesome ones. As a teenage article writer, most of my age mates ignore my articles when I share with them, but these same teenagers gladly read the unprofitable ones. But I know I am soaring above their limited intelligence with the expansion of my horizons, through the seemingly little reading I constantly do!

Trust me, I am also a lazy reader even as an article writer, but I am always reading progressive, important and relevant writings! Fellow contemporary youth, do not forget that the door to knowledge is learning or studying, and the doors to learning include reading!

Also, my potential readers who ignore my articles amaze me a lot, because most of my articles are undoubtedly exciting though knowledgeable to read. Lastly, let us all try to READ WRITINGS WHICH WOULD INFLUENCE OUR PERSONAL PROGRESS IN LIFE!
