Eyelash Extensions

Eyelash extensions are a number of enhancements designed to add length, thickness and fullness to natural eyelashes. They may be compared to hair extensions for one’s eyelashes. They can be separated into two types: temporary and semi-permanent and are sometimes designed in different colours, though most often are black in colour.

Around the streets of Limbe, it is difficult for one to pass by ten ladies, without seeing at least half of them putting on eye-lash extensions. Thus, the new beauty trend has gained and is still gaining more grounds in the Cameroon society, as it is not only limited to young girls, but also older women; not only limited to the idle girls whose only job is to look good (as was widely held before), but also responsible women of the working class, who all hold one opinion; that the semi-permanent Eyelash extensions add length, thickness and fullness to natural lashes and thus increases beauty.

The eyelash can be gotten on the market and other shops, and ladies usually have two choices. They can buy it at FCFA 700, and then pay a professional FCFA 1000 to do the job, or can just pay FCFA 2000 to have it done.

According to the process, a single lash is applied to each natural lash using glue in such a way that neither the glue nor the extension lashes touch the eyelid. This technique is safe and does not harm the eyes in any way. The lash extensions last for about 2-4 weeks or until they fall out. However, a fill is recommended every 2-3 weeks to keep them looking fresh.

The lash extensions vary in length and thickness therefore giving one the option of natural look or more dramatic look, so it is advisable for ladies to go for the ones that suit them, and not ones that make them appear as clowns, as is sometimes observed.
