The lap which is going to make an incursion into Cameroon is a must win one for the cycling Lions.

The Tropical Amissa Bongo enters the fourth lap today, a lap considered crucial for the cycling Lions as the president of the federation put aside a special prize for the Cameroonian cyclists who is going to win the lap. Meanwhile the performance of the Cameroonian cyclists has been dwindling raising fears a Cameroonian will not be able to win the lap.

After flirting with the top of the chart on the first lap of the race ran between Kango and Lambarene, the Cameroonians dropped to the middle of the classification during the second lap of the race ran on Tuesday between Fougamou and Mouila. The first Cameroonian of the point tally sheet appears in the 27th position, in the person of Mbah Herné Raoul with barely twenty second behind the bearer of the yellow jersey, Andrea Palini. Cameroon’s flag bearer in cycling Clovis Kamzong Abessolo appeared on the 31st position with twenty second equally behind the race leader.

Tekou Fokou Damien and Yemeli Nlontsi though in the 34th and 41st positions respectively are equally barely twenty seconds away from the bearer of the yellow jersey. Geremie Nzeke is classified 44th with 56 seconds behind the race leader and Yemeli Herman in the 54th position with one minute, eight seconds behind the yellow jersey.

The fifth lap will also be pregnant with meaning as the kick off will take place at the junction of three frontiers; Gabon, Equatorial Guinea and Cameroon to depict sub regional solidarity. The 6th lap will be a criterion which is becoming habitual for cycling races in Africa between Akanda and Stade l’Amitie and the climax will be on Sunday, January 24th with the last lap to be run between Cap Esterias and the capital city of Libreville.
