Cameroon league to kick off Feb 1

After numerous postponements, the Cameroon domestic league will begin the new season on February 1, the caretaker body announced on Tuesday in Yaoundé.

The competition has been officially renamed Ligue 1 and will comprise 19 division one clubs, with each to be exempted from round one, meaning the league will kick off with the second match day.

By end of the season the last four teams will be relegated to division two after which the number of clubs in the Ligue 1 will return to its conventional 18.

Coton Sport are the current champions of the Cameroonian premier division league.
