The marriage between coaches and club proprietors during the first phase of the Cameroon Professional Football season has not been the best as a lot of divorces have been recorded.
The relationship between coaches and club owners has not been mutual as a total of 7 coaches left their clubs either for greener pastures to other teams or have simply taken a break for reasons best known to them.
David Pagou started with Canon FC of Yaounde and many thought the right winning formula was known but after the 8th playing day, he was only able to register 5 points and 3 defeats.
Refusing to play a second role with the arrival of Dieudonne Nke, the 44-year old Pagou threw in the towel and decided to stay with the University of Yaounde 1 to prepare athletes for the 2015 Games.
Joseph Monthe in his position as the coach of FOVU Club of Baham this season registered defeats which were uncalled for. Their defeat to New Stars of Douala during the 11th day of Play was catastrophic and the best bet was to let him go.
Augustin Kamga was suspended from Botafogo of Douala after the team lost 0-1 to Dragon FC of Yaounde. Believing that the team was experiencing an internal problem, the command baton was given to the assistant that started with victory leaving the main coach Kamga to back out.
Adolphe Ekeh is today enjoying himself at the head coach of Cosmos of Bafia after being fired from TKC of Yaounde. His record with TKC was actually fair as he recorded only 2 victories, 4 draws and one defeat during the 7th day of play.
Pointing accusing fingers that he was not in control of the players, he called it quits and went back to his formal Club Cosmos.
Thomas LiBiih arrived in Cosmos coaching bench this football season with a lot of ambitions supported by the president of the club. After 7 days in the championship, the stories in the club were bad as the club registered only (2 victories, one draw and 4 defeats). Without uttering a word; Libiih left unceremoniously.
Emmanuel Likoumba’s stay in Union Movement Sportif de Loum this season was problematic as he had to settle with the authorities of the club in court before leaving.
After finishing the 2014 season at the 6th position, he lost 1-2 to Cosmos of Bafia, a defeat that sent him out from the club.
Francois Heya was quite impressive when he took Bamboutos this season crushing his formal club Njalla Quan Sport Academy 4-1 during his first playing day.
Recording another victory in Yaoundé over Canon FC in the 2nd day of the championship, the public held him high.
The story began to turn soar when during the 9th day, Yong Sport Academy of Bamenda thrash them 1-0 in front of their home supporters. The continuous defeat of the club provoked the authorities to tear the papers setting Heya free.
Presidents have been very anxious in getting good results and when they are not coming, the referee is blame or the coach carries the cross for the whole team.
From all indications, the second round expected to kick off on the 14th of June will not be different from the first round since all the presidents’ wants victory at all cost to become champions.
