Victoria United FC aka OPOPO was beaten at home by Continental FC of Buea in the knockout stage of the Southwest Mini Interpools tournament after penalty shots (3-4).

The Limbe side, who were one of the favourites to represent the region at the National Interpools tournament for ascension into League 2, was stunned by Continental FC of Buea.

In the much-awaited encounter, it was Continental FC of Buea that took the lead thanks to a goal from Felix Nomen who silenced the vibrant One People One Power (OPOPO) supporters in the Limbe centenary Stadium.

After taking control of the game, Victoria United finally found the equalizer after Francis Lima found the back of the net. Even though they continued mounting pressure, they failed to penetrate the continental defensive wall.

After the usual 90 minutes of play time, both teams proceeded to penalty shots immediately but it was Continental FC that carried the day 4-3 to the detriment of the OPOPO supporters.

Meanwhile, during the first encounter of the day, University Of Buea Football Club lost to Best Stars of Limbe 2-4. After some 25 minutes of play, UBFC were been led by 2 goals to nil. But with some 10 minutes for the first segment of the game to end, UBFC maskman, George Nche’s double gave UBFC the equalizer.

However, some changes from the UBFC coach, Nicholas ASoungu instead marred things for his side as the Best Stars began the second half by scoring two goals to make it 4-2. Things later on got worst for UBFC when two of their players, Yannick Ofon, and Godlove Mbatu were given the read card.

The encounter ended with the Limbe carrying the day with 4-2. The draws for the next round will be done today, Monday, October 26, 2015.
