The general assembly was to adopt the calendar of activities for the association.

The association of judo veterans met in its general assembly on Saturday March 28 to draw up the calendar of activities for the season. Prominent among the projects is the maiden edition of the “Night of veterans of martial arts”, which will be taking place in August at the Yaounde sports complex.

The event won’t be limited only judo but opened to veterans in all martial arts disciplines. Besides the night of martial arts, the association is also planning to organise a competition in Ebolowa dubbed ‘Tournoi de l’Emergence’.

According to the president of the association, Gabriel Simo, they will work hand in glove with the federation in order to conceive a training manual to help in the promotion of judo as their objective is to enable Cameroon produce an Olympic champion.

They are also planning to support the Regional leagues to organise competitions. The general assembly also saw the installation of the new executive members as well as adopt the budget for 2015/2016. There were presentations on the perspectives of judo in Cameroon and the strategy of promoting judo in Cameroon.

Gabriel Simo refuted allegations that the association was in conflict with the federation saying the present president, Alain Kingue was a founding members of the association created in 2003 and authorised by the Minister of Sports and Physical education in 2007.

He said their main goal was promoting judo in Cameroon as a way of giving back to the youths, what judo has given them.
