Cameroon finally got an athlete for the Olympic games in Rio in athletics in the person of Auriol Dogmo. She got her qualification by obtaining the minimum record for qualification which is 17.75 by jumping a distance of 17.76m in short-put event.

She even jumped a distance of 17.97 but out of excitement she crossed back the finish line prompting the annulations of the record. It was during the athletics cup of Cameroon in Limbe over the weekend.

Meanwhile after winning the championship, FAP athletics clubs added another new feather to their cap by winning the Cup of Cameroon in both the men and women categories. In the men' category, FAP emerged first on the medal tally sheet with a total of 21 medals; seven in gold, seven silver and seven bronze.

They were followed at a distance by Cameroon Sport, CMSP, with a total of 12 medals; three in gold, four silver and five bronze. INJS emerged third with four medals; three in gold and one silver.

In the women's category, FAP grabbed a total of 13 medals; four gold, six silver and three bronze to emerge first while CMSP again emerged second with a total of 11 medals; four gold, three silver and four bronze. The Team from Athletes in Action, AIA, came third with five medals; two gold, two silver and one bronze.

Justifying their brilliant performance, the FAP assistant coach for sports walk and long distance running, Adjudant chef Major, Fotso Wafo Alain said it was thanks to hard work and discipline coupled with the fact that hierarchy led by club president Fregate Captain, Djendola Pierre, has always provided the needs of the athletes.

According to the president of the Cameroon Athletics federation, Motomby Mbome, a night of awards will be organised this coming weekend at the National Olympic and Sports Committee to rewards outstanding athletes of the season.

During the Cup of Cameroon finals in Limbe, athletes like Takougoum Billy, Mayack II, Abessolo Bivina, Oumarou Mohamadou and Nzossie Hervé distinguished themselves by either winning more than one gold medal or breaking their own record.
