40 pilot nursery and primary schools for government assistance

The experimental phase of the contracting scheme for lay private and denominational schools will be launched this year with a pilot group of 40 nurseries and primary schools in the East and South West Regions.

The Minister of Basic Education, Youssouf Hadidja, launched the scheme during the 10th session National commission on private education that held this Tuesday, 18th August 2015 in Yaounde.

The session is organized under the theme “contracting with private education to promote its contribution in achieving quality education for all”.

In her address to representatives of lay private and denominational schools in Cameroon, the minister indicated that the scheme consist of establishing contracts with private basic education institutions through a partnership with the private sector.

The main objective of the partnership, she emphasized, is to ensure the smooth functioning and effective participation of lay private and mission schools in the provision of quality education.

Minister Youssouf Hadidja added that, Private and public schools are called upon to work in synergy for the education of Cameroonian children.
