The Aghem Cultural and Development Association, ACADA, has taken their responsibility of providing for themselves a source of water, following high bills from CAMWATER without a corresponding increase in quality of the water supplied.

The need for good and affordable water in Aghem, and Wum community, in general, resulted in the putting in place of a giant water scheme aimed at providing potable and affordable water to the 14 villages, Stranger Quarters as well as the Hausa community living in Wum.

With the giant water scheme being the number one priority project, alongside ACADA’s warehouse to preserve and treat foodstuffs of Wum farmers.

They intend to transform some of the items to semi-finished products and sell to other organisations for the benefit of both the organisation the farmers as well as provide for orphanages, the library and other village community developmental projects.

To realise the two top priority projects in the pipeline, the Southwest Region’s branch of ACADA, that is to provide FCFA 4.2 million as their own share and contribution to the projects, held a mini cultural festival and fundraising that was attended by Aghem indigenes coordinated by the National President, Andrew Mua, together with Pius Nang Ebua and other executive members of ACADA.

The overall cost of the Aghem community water project stands at FCFA 8.5 million, while that of the warehouse stands at FCFA 25 million, to be raised by Aghem indigenes all over Cameroon, as well as those in the diaspora; America, Europe, ACADA zones, according to the strength of each zone.

While mobilising natives of Aghem all over the nation to support the developmental projects that have been dormant for about 15 years, the ACADA President, Andrew Mua, calls on sons of Aghem to fulfill their duties by supporting and joining the village development train that is trying to make life easy for its people.

The mini festivals are in preparation for the Aghem cultural festival that will take place on December 26 that embodies all development associations in Wum.

The grand cultural festival will bring all ACADA members together who will each have a team to take part in sporting competitions.
