Baba 1 flood victims get comfort from government

The victims of the Baba 1 floods in Ngoketunja Division of the North West Region have received gifts worth some FCFA 13 million from the Prime Minister Head of Government, Philemon Yang and some elites of the Division.

The delegation led by,His Majesty Fon Chafah of Bangolan handed over 80 blankets,120 sacks of rice, exercise books, mattresses, salt and a sum of FCFA 8.5 million for the victims.

The team conveyed a message of love from the Presidential couple that reassured them of the presence of the State with them.

The Yaounde team present were Hon. Njingum Musa, Prof Uphie Melo, Senator Ignatius Bayin, Nganjoh Mama Lamya amongst others also handed a special contribution of FCFA 5 million from the PM, Philemon Yang.

Representing the victims, Forbeh Hamid hailed the gesture of solidarity amongst the inhabitants of Ngoketunjia and saluted the apprehension of the Prime Minister.

He blamed the floods that caused heavy losses in the area on the absence of a drainage system at the Baba 1 stretch linking Jakiri-Kumbo.

His Majesty Fuekemshi II of Baba 1 commended the timely intervention of the elites to ensure an emergency plan to be put in place.

The Senior Divisional officer, Kuela Valery Norbert waved the elites, Babessi Council, CPDM militants from Baba 1, St.Mark Catholic Parish and sympathizers that have been comforting the victims at a time they needed them the most.
