Lovita, 2, lived with her parents at SONEL Street in Mimboman, Yaounde until her death on September 11, 2014.

According to her mother, Cynthia T., the little girl had drowned in a water-filled garbage pit near her tailoring workshop on that fateful day after having gone missing for over three hours. She searched everywhere and even called her husband, Timothy, who rushed to police and radio stations to make announcements.

Later, an onlooker suggested that they search the pit and as she joined her husband to move dirt from the pit, she found the girl’s hand. Caught in shock, she quickly alerted her husband who came and pulled the girl out.

Sadly, Lovita was already dead but the fact that she had no swollen stomach remains a mystery to her parents.
