The Member of Parliament for Bamenda and Bali has handed over farm tools to farmers in Bali Subdivision of Mezam division. Hon Fobi Nchinda Simon handed over hundreds of hoes and cutlasses during a ceremony on Sunday April 24, 2016 that brought together farmers within subdivision.

According to the people’s representative, the donation is within the equal distribution of his parliamentary micro project grants for 2016. Unlike in other subdivisions, the parliamentarian handed over farm tools which he stated will enhance food sufficiency in Bali subdivision.

While reiterating that his constituency is the biggest in the country, the law maker castigated the insignificant eight million being given them for micro projects in their constituencies. Hon Fobi recommended that instead of micro projects grants, parliamentarians should be allowed to write projects for their constituencies for government to fund.

“I have mixed feelings. I am happy with the turn and what we are supposed to do. As I said at the grand stand, Eight million for the biggest constituency in Cameroon is too small. Bali could not get anything above two million; it’s a shame. The SDF is using it as a lesson as to how to manage when we do not have much. The notion of equity. The notion of fairness.

What we of the SDF really want is that development money should be put at the disposal of the parliamentarians. If for example I could write projects for my constituency to the tune of say FCFA 100 million which government will execute it will be a better thing than give a merger eight million.” Hon Fobi said.

While expressing satisfaction for bringing the Industrial Zone on the “Banso exit from Bamenda”, the Parliamentarian reassured the people of Bali that they will soon have a dry port on the "Bali exit from Bamenda" which according to him will ease the stress involved in clearing goods from seaports across the country.

Hon Fobi Nchinda has so far handed over the micro grants to intelligent but needy children in Bamenda II and III.

The MP’s decision to give out every year the eight million he receives from the national assembly to all four subdivisions within his constituency was heralded by Anembom Munjo SDF National Communication secretary, Fuh Standley Mezam SDF divisional coordinator and others who have had the opportunity to attend his events.

The MP who is serving his second term has through the equitable distribution of grants assisted in the realization of some projects like raods, bridges, and culverts. Men, women, unemployed youths as well as drop outs have equally benefited from the grants.
