The road from Ntambang popularly known as Old Town and the stretch of road from Ndamukong Street to Cow Street has been tarred. It took the contractors seven months to complete the job.

An inspection team from the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing, under the urban sector of Development and Water Supply Programme, known by its French acronym as PDUE, led by Anne Marie Eono, has been on the field to access the quality of work done.

The Government Delegate to the Bamenda City Council, Vincent Ndumu, with control engineers and local committee, assess the work done.

“Taxis can now use the road from Cow Street to Ndamukong so as to avoid traffic at Mobile Nkwen, meanwhile, the inhabitants of Old Town, as old as its name, now have to think of rehabilitating their houses to suit their high quality road,” he asserted.

“The living standards of these city dwellers have been improved upon, but what about maintenance?” he questioned. He cautioned the population of Old Town not to use the road to dry their food stuff, as a dumping site and as garages. He said they have asked Quarter Heads to report recalcitrant cases. The project, worth FCFA 16 million, was sponsored by the World Bank to ensure that the populations of these neighborhoods enjoy good roads as well as water and electricity.
