All committees are at work, fine-tuning strategies.

Several meetings have been held in the North West Regional capital of Bamenda ahead of the 40th anniversary of the National Day. The most recent took place last Friday May 4 with the Governor of the Region, Adolf Lele L'Afrique chairing.

During the meeting, it was revealed that 12 committees have been put in place to ensure a hitch-free event. As for the different committee reports, it was revealed that the different schools will march in three deeps of fifty and brandish the Cameroon flag. Meanwhile, secondary schools will not take part in the march past. The University of Bamenda will be given the opportunity to march in 12 deeps of fifty. Equally, there will be a unity and national integration walk as well as a touch light procession march on the eve of the event.

For the military march past which is the high point of the event, rehearsals have already begun. According to the report from the committee in charge, the military men and women have been informed about the stakes of this year's event. The vehicles that will be used for the motorised march past are in order.

The Finance Committee used the opportunity to call on Cameroonians of good will to send in their financial contributions to ensure that the event is well organised. The common cry from all the committees was the inadequate and late disbursement of funds for the event as it has been the case in the past years. They used the opportunity to call on the authorities concerned to disburse adequate funds on time to avoid last minute rush.

Meanwhile, Governor Lele L'Afrique called on all stakeholders and the people of the region to put hands on deck to ensure that the 2012 National Day celebration is a huge success.
