Bamenda snake office owner suspended indefinitely

Latest reports from up station Bamenda say Mr Kah Charles whose office a giant snake was believed to have been found and killed carrying names of people in the belly has been suspended from his function as Divisional Chief of Surveys in Mezam.

The suspension letter which HILLTOPVOICES saw a copy at the office of the Senior Divisional Officer's office says the SDO for Mezam suspends Mr Kah Charles for misuse of public office.

The letter which is signed by the SDO for Mezam, Nguele Nguele Felix also forbids Mr Kah from trespassing in his former office. While the letter details the Divisional Delegates for State property and land tenure Mezam to immediately take control of the office, sources say a new tenant to that office has been appointed pending installation.

Our sources within government circles in Mezam say investigations are underway to establish the origin of the famous Bamenda snake. Governor's services have also been involved following the interest of Northwest Governor Adolph Lele Lafrique to establish facts about the incident that pulled even the regions number one man from a sector conference he was chairing in Bamenda.

Though our sources say the said suspended government functionary enjoys protection from very high places in the Central administration in Yaounde and Cameroon as a whole, surviving this case may be a hard nut to crack for him.

Local opinion in Bamenda just after the snake incident indicted staff of the delegation particularly in lands surveys for unprecedented corruption and witchcraft practices. Some officials in the delegation even carry names like "Ngomba" which is a deadly nocturnal masquerade in the grass fields of Cameroon believed to possess a lot of spiritual powers. Others are named Satan or devil for their uncommon knowledge of the world beyond.

Will this possibly put an end to established corruption or witchcraft-related activities in the lands sector in the entire country? It remains a multimillion dollar question. The September 1, 2015 incident will for long remain in the minds of many.
