It has become a norm for Cameroon’s Ministry for women to produce a special fabric for the celebration of the International Women’s Day in Cameroon.

In Bamenda like other parts of the country, the demand for this fabric is always high prior to the event, hence consequently leading to a massive use of this specially designed fabric for the Day.

Though many of the women who showed up for the event had the official fabric, a sizable number used their different group uniforms.

For some who used their group uniforms, they argued that the Women’s Day fabric was too expensive while others said they didn't really like the design. Many also had the view that the official fabric was seasonal.

hilltopvoices was interested in the many groups that wore typical traditional northwest attire. On enquiry, they learned that though the traditional wear was more expensive than the Women’s Day fabric, its users said it is more beautiful durable and depicts a Northwest woman.

Others were also with the view that the motive behind the Women’s Day fabric is still not clear enough to them hence are not motivated to buy it.

The designs and colours varied from one group to another, but overall, one could say for sure that the beauty of the women at the celebration was outstanding.
