The integration of gender in humanitarian situations was the main subject of a workshop held on 13 and 14 November in Bertoua, for the benefit of the humanitarian activity in the East.

This work shop brought together 70 humanitarians, speaking alongside refugees residing in the camps and frontier villages of the East. This initiative came from the UN women and UNHCR, which has benefited from the technical support of the Ministry for the advancement of women and the family (Minproff).

This training allowed them to equip these actors on the integration of gender in the humanitarian response, on the application of standards of Inter system of the United Nations (IASC) agencies.

Participants are suitable elements for better coordination in the interventions in favour of women and girls in affected areas. Catherine Andela, Advisor to the UN women regional office, from Senegal, was the facilitator of this training, considered rich and beneficial by seminarians.

The resident representative of the UN women in Cameroon, Ms. Rachelle Mian Djangone, welcomed the joint efforts of the humanitarian community to guarantee this dignity of women in crisis situations. She said that the project "social cohesion and economic rehabilitation of refugee women survivors of violence based on the gender and rape, victims of the conflict in CAR, living in the eastern region" was set up in February 2014.
