Senior year students (SYS) of CUIB have been called to work together to prepare for a successful commencement come December 6, 2014.
The call was made in a meeting between the President Rev. Fr. George Nkeze accompanied by Rev. Fr Leonard Ekwelle, Director of the Office of Institutional Advancement and Development, OIAD and the senior year students who will be leaving the university after 4 years of studies.
During the meeting the students dubbed ‘senior years in transition’ by the pro-chancellor, Fr. Nkeze were given detailed explanations of the activities that will mark the 1 week commencement event that will be crowned by the official academic ceremony on December 6.
The senior years in transition will during the week’s activities prepare the valedictorian speech, their senior year class gift to the university, the torch light and the commencement rehearsal amongst others.
As the first batch of B.Sc. students they will be honored with a commemorative booklet after the commencement event and will get full support and follow-up by the institution in their after CUIB education and job careers through the Alumni Association and the Career Development Office.
All students were asked to leave their contact numbers and addresses with the Office of Institutional Advancement and Development, OIAD for a follow-up and provision of information on the commencement. Furthermore they were also invited to form a committee that will liaise the university with the students throughout the preparation period and thereafter.
The week-long event will be characterized by entertainments, business venture competitions, award of prices, a guest speaker among many other activities. It is worth mentioning that HND students who completed already will join the first cohort of B.Sc. students in the commencement event on December 6, 2014.
