The ceremony was chaired by the Governor of the Centre Region, Roger Moïse Eyene Nlom yesterday in Yaounde.

Three days after the launching of the nationwide campaign to fight against uncivil behaviour in Cameroon, the Governor of the Centre Region, Roger Moïse Eyene Nlom has immediately proceeded to commission the committee members charged with ensuring that citizens in the Centre Region adopt exemplary behaviour with a good civic spirit.

Yesterday September 11, 2013 at the Yaounde City Council, during a ceremony to launch activities of regional committees on Civic Education and National Integration, Roger Moïse Eyene Nlom commissioned some 50 members with the message, "You already know what to do to make sure Cameroonians are good citizens." The campaign is taking place under the theme: "A responsible citizen, for an exemplary Cameroon."

Members of the Centre Regional committee on Civic Education and National Integration include the Governor of the Region, the Senior Divisional Officers of the Centre Region and the centre regional delegates of the different ministries in the country, amongst others. Members of the committee are charged with implementing in the field the recommendations of the first-ever International Colloquium on Civic Education and National Integration which took place in Cameroon from July 8-10, this year.

It was noted that the colloquium which focused on "Civic Education and National Integration: Stakes, Challenges and Perspectives for the Construction of an Exemplary Cameroon," aimed at elaborating a reference document of programmes for the education of the population on citizenship and national integration.

Committee members will henceforth in their various domains school Cameroonians on many issues such as respecting the national emblem and symbols, proper behavioural patterns to adopt in the community, at their work place, in school as well as amongst other fellow Cameroonians. The committee members will also develop strategic programmes to carry out their duty.
