The Regional Delegate of the Chamber of Agriculture Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Crafts has called on government and all stakeholders of the public and private sector to join the traditional producers of food and crafts in order to realize what is now called the second generation of producers in these sectors.
This was part of his message and more during the opening ceremony address to invited government, and private sector officials and actors at the third regional trade fair held at the Chamber of Agriculture Precincts on Wednesday, December 3, 2014.
Also conspicuously present was the representative of the Governor of the Littoral Region who chaired the occasion. Gilbert KONANGO stated that aside from the traditional role of the actors themed «Together we overcome Poverty and Famine in Rural areas», the rural population has always been the food supplier to the urban areas, so aware of these enormous potentials, he reminded participants of the President’s call in Ebolowa to prioritize in second generation agriculture and this year’s theme of the United Nations which recognizes the seven billions inhabitants that are fed each day through the efforts made.
The Regional Delegate stressed that there was need for the public and private sectors to engage in improving the standard of living of the rural population, increase food production, assure food security, provide infrastructural facilities, protect the natural resources and biodiversity, create jobs as a means of minimizing rural exodus, because these measures empowered the Dry fish exposition farmers to increase food production.
Kanongo alias ‘’Moalimo’’ disclosed that the Chambers also organized workshops to upgrade the skills of 42 producers in the domains of mushroom – cultivation, piggery, poultry, the transformation of agricultural products from the primary to the secondary face and lots more. He recognized the presence of four new experts in the region and thanked partners like DRADER, MINADER and PLANOPAC for their constant support.
Earlier, the governor’s representative who declared the ceremonies open cut the ribbons, appreciated the efforts done by the Chamber of Agriculture, reiterated Paul Biya’s vision, encouraged the future role of the Chamber and urged all participants to play an active role in the exchange of views and other important contributions during the event.
