Construction work resumes at Marché Congo

After the fire that ravaged the Marché Congo in July 2012, it was decided that this market space in temporary materials will be built this time permanently.

The ceremony of laying the first stone was organized and the work should be engaged a few days later, with funds available.

Except that in the months after that ceremony, some minor issues delayed commencement of work. However, everything is now back to normal. The compromise between the authorities of the city of Douala and the owner of the parcel of land included in the trading area planned for the construction of the entire structure, allowed to settle the situation.

And a few days ago, Fritz Ntone Ntone announced the resumption of the Congo market of Douala. It was during a meeting between representatives of traders and the government delegate to the Douala City Council on the management of commercial spaces. Nearly a week after the information, a look at the site shows that this is not yet the great excitement. Currently the owner of the problem space itself is striving to destroy his facilities.

A senior international corporation of Southwest building company responsible for carrying out such works says that everything is ready for signing contracts with the Council.

The only detour for the project has been solved. Mr. Ngalle said investors are no longer waiting for go ahead from the city authorities. In addition, there was no question of launching without any warranties. Other funds have indeed been invested in the relocation of traders, including the construction of the stalls, etc.

According to the document presenting the new Marché Congo Douala in commercial facilities, it is expected to have 1304 shops. On the other hand, 12 storage spaces ranging in size between 18 and 35 m² are also included in the project.

The construction of 24 administrative offices (Council, taxes, customs, police), restaurants are also planned. Just as the construction of 120 parking spaces, 200 toilets, installation of litter bins ...
