The corpse of Catherine Okon Ajobane was reportedly missing at the Tiko Cottage Hospital Mortuary.
The 44 year old who was labourer at a local banana plantation in Tiko died in the Tiko Cottage Hospital on 10th September 2014 and her remains were kept in the mortuary of the hospital.
On 20th September, date for the funeral, the corpse was not found in the mortuary.
The Mortuary Attendant instead presented the remains of an older lady in place of Catherine Okon Ajobane. As a result of this,the family of the deceased immediately sensed foul after noticing that the cloth wrapped on the lady had been abandoned in the vicinity of the mortuary.
The husband of the dead woman Mr. Aloga - worker of the CDC plantation carried out a series of search yet to no avail.
The curious and anxious crowd that flogged the mortuary to witness the event caught the attention of the hospital management and Tiko administrative authorities.
The Divisional Officer, Mayor, State Counsel and the superintendent of the Tiko Public Security began investigations.
The Mortuary attendant was categorical in his assertion that only two female have been removed from the mortuary since 10th of September when Catherine Okon Ajobane died.
The mystery surrounding the deceased lady still lingers on as investigations continue.
