The lifeless body of an unidentified young man in his twenties measuring 1 meter 68 was lying between MRS and Nsiméyon Chapel precisely at the entrance of Victor Hugo Institute yesterday October 22, 2014.

It was 10am 58 minutes this Oct. 23, 2014 when we left the scene with the lifeless body still exposed.

According to information gathered on the spot, the young man might have been hit by a car the day before, around 21h 45. As he writhed in pain, some passers-by thought he was about to commit suicide. Others, however, noting that he was hurt, did not have time to rescue him before another vehicle running at high speed struck, this time fatally.

Arriving a few minutes after the tragedy, firefighters found no part or element that could identify the victim. It was 22 hours 25 when they decided to abandon the lifeless body at the entrance of Victor Hugo Institute.

They returned the next day 6 am to see if the body was moved by the Efoulan Town hall who are responsible for bodies, but it was with surprise that students and staff of the Institute of Victor Hugo discovered the package that welcomed them when they arrived.

Contacted by phone, the Principal of the Institute Jean-Marc Olivier Beleoken stated that it is not the firefighters and the lifeless body of the young man in front of the way that concerns Institute.

We contacted Colonel Garga Jules of the firefighters department asking why the body was not moved to a morgue more than 15 hours after the incident. He said that for firefighters in charge of fire, they must first identify the victim.

"But in this case the body had nothing on it that can be identifiable, it was the responsibility of the Town Hall (Efoulan) to rid the street of the body of this poor young man".

We left the premises with two big questions: Jean-Marc Olivier Beleoken should answer if this wont cause any trauma on young students in his business?

Will the town hall Efoulan who were contacted for more than 15 hours without any success be held to account for the social implications of such a spectacle?
