Some secondary school teachers recently transferred to the East Region have engaged in a sit in strike at the Governor’s office demanding the payments of their transport allowances.

The striking teachers complained that since they took off service several months ago, their transport allowances have not been paid.

Those who received their transport faire also complained that the criteria used for calculating the money was not satisfactory.

The angry teachers also indicated that what some of them received as transport allowance last year was not equal to the number of kilometrescovered to reach their work stations.

The teachers had earlier complained at the Regional Delegation of Secondary Education where they were told their files are at the level of the Governor’s office.

After having dialogued with the Governor; they were given a fixed day for the payment which according to them was never respected.

Faced with this situation, the teachers turned out at the Governor’soffice with their placardsto make their grievances heard.
