The pioneer Regional Division Head has been urged to come up with a database for posterity.
The Secretary of State at the Ministry of Defence in charge of Ex-servicemen and War Victims, Koumpa Issa, has told the first-ever Regional Division Head of State Secretariat in charge of Ex-servicemen and War victims for the Centre Region, that what is needed of him is an inventory of all Ex-servicemen and War Victims of the Centre Region. Koumpa Issa made this recommendation to Colonel Akono Mvondo Bill on November 29 in Yaounde while officially commissioning him into his new function.
Koumpa Issa said for life-changing projects to be carried out in favour of this class of people, who have served the country in all loyalty, there was need to have a head count of all of them in the Centre Region and what they are up to. He also insisted on the reintegration of all ex-servicemen and War Victims of the Region, reiterating that retirement is not frustration and time for those concerned to back out on contributing their quota to the country's development drive. "Going on retirement is changing activity," he said, adding that "we must continue to contribute to the development of the country."
Colonel Akono Mvondo Bill, appointed by the September 16, 2013 Presidential Decree is also expected to coordinate and implement all government activities with regard to Ex-servicemen and War Victims, remain creative and efficient, cleanse the image of the sector and above all, rekindle hope to orphans and widows of Ex-servicemen and War Victims.
More than 60 per cent of Ex-servicemen and War Victims live in the Centre and Littoral Regions, Koumpa Issa said, cautioning Colonel Akono Mvondo Bill to table his 2014 road map on how those in the Centre Region can benefit from the new structure that was borne out of President Paul Biya's munificence to the Armed Forces during celebrations marking their Golden Jubilee in Bamenda, North West Region in December 2010.
