The senior divisional officer for Fako, Zang III has promised hell to those whom he classified as agents who are out to tarnish his reputation and that of the South West governor.

Zang III sounded the warning recently while refuting allegations that he had connived with South West governor, Okalia Bilai Bernard, to sell the land playing host to the Limbe Botanic Gardens.

The visibly-enraged senior civil administrator was categorical that no single part of the Botanic garden had been sold. Zang III stated that part of the land was leased to a businessman following a demand in 2012.

According to the SDO, a certain Achu Lifu Roland Cho, in 2012, requested for land for the establishment of a 250m FCFA worth leisure park in Limbe.

A commission led by former Fako SDO, Bona Ebengue Francois gave out the said land and a decision by the minister of state property, surveys and land tenure of May 8, 2013, officially sanctioned the temporal occupation of the land by Achu Roland, we gathered.

Also, we learned the decision specified that Achu Roland was entitled to construct on the land using only semi-permanent material. While the authorization was valid for five years after which it could be taken back by the state, or terms renegotiated, the tenant (Achu) was required to pay a yearly fee of 6.8 MFCFA to the divisional delegation of lands for Fako.

Going by some land survey experts, the ‘problematic’ land measures 3,400 square metres and is situated directly behind Neptune Cabaret, stretching across both sides of the Limbe river right up to the bridge leading up to the Botanic Gardens’ main entrance.

Worthy of note is the fact that it was Chief Epupa Samuel Ekum of Dikolo village in Limbe III who first blew the whistle that has caused the SDO to promised tough times to blackmailers.
