Farm in Bertoua burns along with 500 chickens

The firebreak from an unknown source occurred Monday around 2 o'clock dawn time. Soffo Séraphin, owner of poultry farm has resultantly lost his entire fortune in Nkolbikon, a district of Bertoua.

According to reports, the chirping of chickens awoke some residents but they were unable to put out the fire.

Firefighters intervened, shortly before 3am but the farm had been totally destroyed by the fire. Overall, about 500 chickens were reduced to ashes but no human loss was recorded.

Some local residents visited the site to pick up the remains of the roasted fowls for consumption. However, an investigation has been initiated to establish the facts surrounding the fire outbreak.

Soffo Séraphin launched a cry of distress to men of good will to help resume his trade; his main source of income.
