Fcfa 17.2 Billion for Investment in Littoral Region

The focus of the 2014 budget is infrastructure, production, health and education to better livelihoods.

Out of the global FCFA 3,312 billion State budget, the financial package the Littoral Region for the 2014 fiscal year stands at FCFA 17.255.511.250. Of this, FCFA 12.975.795.000 is earmarked for investment while a total of FCFA 4.279.716.250 is meant for functioning; with main focus on infrastructure, production, health and education which directly affect the lives of the local population.

The above revelation was made last Thursday January 9, at the Banquet Hall of the Littoral Governor's Office by the Secretary of the Region, Ludovic Ngwba, representing the Governor at the official launch of the 2014 budget.

Addressing the various actors and stakeholders, he stressed on the need to reverse the actual tides of developmental strides in the Region, marked by low consumption and execution rates. In line with the Head of State's December 31, 2013 address to the nation, condemning the laxity witnessed in the realisation of projects geared towards attaining emergence by 2035, the Secretary General urged them to acquaint themselves with the dispositions of the recently adopted budget-programme, redouble their efforts in revenue mobilisation, ameliorate the quality of expenditures while strictly observing the regulations in force.

The Head of mission of the delegations from the Ministry of Finance (MINFI) and that of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development (MINEPAT), Serge Dieudonné Ntsek, Director of Budgetary Control at MINFI, gave a detailed presentation on the innovations adopted this year.

Elaborated on simplified procedures aimed at matching administrative requirements with a resultant improve on field performance, he announced that vote holders can immediately start work given that the budget has gone operational. He further explained the steps for manual file processing, concerning areas that lack computer or internet network.

Other presentations included report of activities by the Treasury Paymaster General, taxation and the Directorate General of Customs alongside recommendations for the just-ended financial year.
