The Mayor of Fundong council, Awoh Ndang Denis has recently visited and handed out books and fees to some 2000 pupils and students in 90 schools and colleges in over 32 villages in the Fundong municipality, North West of Cameroon.

The Mayor’s educational tour started in Akeh village and continued to colleges in Ajung, Achain, Aduk, Abuh, Baiso and Alim amongst others.

The commitment of the Fundong council to stand by needy pupils, students and schools of the subdivision has been saluted by inhabitants of the municipality since many school-going children are orphans and offspring of very poor parents, leading to high rates of school drop outs.

Besides the scholarships that featured 20 beneficiaries from each primary school and ten from each college, the new CPDM Mayor offered benches, computers and above all, English Language and Mathematics textbooks to Class Six pupils, many of whom had never seen any since enrolling for education.

The Mayor had working sessions with the elites and educational authorities of each of the 32 villages in which he hammered on the development of the locality and encouraged participants to send their children to school.

The initiative led to the deployment of the council workers across the 32 villages, so as to ensure the items reach the intended persons.
