The Governor of Littoral Region, Samuel Dieudonné Ivaha Diboua, has issued an order prohibiting the circulation of heavy duty vehicles from ‘Rond Point’ Deido across the Wouri Bridge, through Bonaberi to Bekoko Junction and vice versa.

The ban is effective from 2:00pm to 10:00pm every day until January 15, 2016.

This prohibition comes in the wake of the heavy traffic jams that had transformed driving in Douala into a nightmare.

The order, which the Governor issued on December 16, 2015, went into force on Friday, December 18, 2015.

Governor Ivaha Diboua has warned that any defaulter will be dealt with accordingly.

The Governor took the decision after carrying out a field trip to see things for himself, following persistent outcries by the population using that stretch of road.

Though traffic jams had over the years been a permanent fixture on the Deido- Bonaberi- Bekoko highway, the situation was worsened by the end of year period due to the construction of a double-carriage road on that stretch.
