Japoma Road: Over 50 percent work executed

Fri, 21 Aug 2015 Source: Cameroon Tribune

The three kilometre road linking Nyalla-chateau and Japoma, which has been under construction since September 2014 is soon to receive a shape. The road which, at first seemed inaccessible is now paved and traced. The enlargement process, digging and filling of gutters have been accomplished.

There’s no meaningful development without sacrifice. This is true because some houses found 5metres from the limits of the road were all demolished.

Also, the advent of the rainy season has not made things easy for the inhabitants in that accessibility in and out of the locality has become a day job as the road is now filled with mud and holes. The rainy season has not been an encouraging factor as workers were forced to put the work on standby.

Ready to kick off next month; the construction scheduled for 24 months will be done in different phases by the 21st Regiment du Genie Militaire of Douala. The first phase involves the road linking Nyalla Chateau junction and rail route de Japoma, the second phase from Japoma junction to Nyalla-Pariso and the third phase will be from rail route de Japoma to PK 14.

Martine Ngo Mbi, an inhabitant of Japoma says; “Japoma is a big locality with a population that is significantly increasing. We are satisfied with the level of advancement of the construction of the road. This will facilitate accessibility, enhance trade and more importantly bring development. We only hope that this will be done in the time schedule.”

Government’s urbanising plan for the city of Douala is a reality to the dwellers of Japoma locality since where there is a route there is development.
