Officials of the Ministry of Transport have been taken aback by the sophisticated ultra modern Automobile Testing Center in Kumba, constructed by one of the best construction enterprises in Cameroon with headquarters in Limbe, Johnco Construction, with its CEO Njie Molungou Joseph, at the behest of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, PCC.
The company received an avalanche of praises from all the government official, PCC officials and cross section of stakeholders, during the official inauguration of The PCC Testing Center in Kumba, by the personal representative of the Minister of Transport, Robert Nkili, the Regional Delegate for Transport Vivanje Ivo at the esplanade of the Testing Center, accompanied by a powerful delegation of the PCC from Buea headed it, Moderator Rev Fonki Samuel, Friday 19 February 2015.
Classed amongst the best Testing Center in Cameroon, the Ministers representative while hailing the contractor for having done the work in record time and respecting the terms of the contract as can be seen from the sophisticated machines in the center, went down memory lane on the road covered so far for the realization of the project estimated at hundreds of millions francs.
He enjoined the management of Prestech Kumba, for the laudable initiative which will go a long way to save the population of Meme Division and its environs at very close proximity.
It will also save them from the headache of moving over very long distances to have the physical state of their vehicle tested. They should ensure that their vehicles are regularly tested, so as to guarantee good conditions to transport commuters from one end to the other and ensure safety on roads.
The Delegated noted that, the action carried out by Prestech, is a true testimony of the fact that, the government of Cameroon through the Ministry of Transport and its social partners are waging a fierce war against road accidents and ensuring the security and safety of the population on major road network.
Enter PCC Moderator The Moderator, Rt.Rev. Fonki Samuel Forba, expressed gratitude to the Cameroon government and its partners for their support to the church for over the years.
He stated that, the provision of effective vehicle testing services by the Presbyterian Church will go a long way to make the automobile repair and maintenance programme of Prestech complete and that, the provision of the center, is the church’s own contribution to that of the government through the Ministry of Transport and other related departments of the state, in the effort to curb road traffic accidents, by ensuring the worthiness of all vehicles that ply the highway.
“Roadworthiness as we all know will reduce the number of road accidents and injuries or deaths which occur on the road each day. The number of patients in our hospitals resulting from road traffic accidents has steadily increased.
Accidents of all sorts usually leave the victim with a high degree of disabilities or incapacitation, calling for technological devices for effective rehabilitation”, the Moderator noted.
Adding that, the very essence of Prestech is to serve as a complementary structure in the provision of rehabilitation services for the population. The vehicle testing center however, provides an opportunity for the trainees in the mechanical and automobile industries, as well as a job creation avenue for the youths.
This falls in line with the Head of State’s vision for professional education which he echoed in his address to the youths on the eve of the 2015 National Youth Day celebration.
“Initially, the Prestech was conceived to manufacture and repair basic hospital tools and biomedical devices. The services developed the capacity to repair hospital and church owned vehicles or automobile.
As the standard and quality services gained great reputation, it attracted the attention of the general public. It is against this historical background that Prestech has grown to the pinnacle of its potentials and the need for a vehicle testing center became categorically imperative”, the Moderator explained.
He thanked the contractor Johnco Construction, with its CEO Njie Molungou Joseph, who at the behest of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, PCC, Constructed the center implanted the machines for a job well executed and called on other contractors to emulate this example.
The 2nd ASDO, Nelson Yongkuma Gamsi, appreciated the management of Prestech and expressed the relief of the entire population of Meme, Ndian, Manyu and Kupe Muanenguba Divisions from traveling long distances to have their vehicle tested. He promised the church, of the collaboration of the Meme administration in ensuring the proper use and management of the center.
Meanwhile, he urged the population to make good use of the opportunity that has been put at their disposal, so that together, they can fight against accidents that have results to loss of lives of many people especially the youths who are the future leaders of tomorrow.
