Kumba Police have reportedly brutalised two journalists Talla Agha Christipher of The Sun Newspaper and Divine Nyambot of the Lake Site Radio after unsuccessfully attempting to gun them down for investigating the illegal detention of one Frankline Shu.

Shu, a PCC Christian from Ekondo Titi en route to Buea for the induction of new Moderator and Synod Clerk was detained for questioning the identity of a police officer at a checkpoint in Kake on the outskirts of Kumba.

Talla and Nyambot got into an exchange with the police regarding the arrest and detention of Shu.

In a split second, the policeman brutalised them with their guns, inflicting wounds on the reporters. While Nyambot managed to escape, Talla was arrested and detained despite the injuries on his body.

He was later released when other journalists mounted pressure on the police. Talla, who is a pupil advocate is currently receiving medical attention at the Kumba district hospital.
