A Non-Governmental Organisation, ‘Les Mariannes,’ on Saturday, October 10, 2015, made a donation to over 40 children of the Centre for Children in Distress (CAED) in Yaounde.
The donation, comprising books, school bags, school needs, food stuff, clothing and toiletry, was handed over by the President of ‘Les Mariannes,’ Corine Eteki.
She explained that the gifts were aimed at putting smiles on the faces of the children in distress. Corine Eteki added that it was also to enable Cameroonians know the association and to contribute to the strengthening of cooperation between Cameroon and France.
On his part, the Inspector General in the Ministry of Social Affairs, Samuel Orock, said through the donation, ‘Les Mariannes’ had joined the solidarity chain put in place by the Ministry of Social Affairs. He called on officials of CAED to make good use of the gifts.
The Director of the Centre for Children in Distress, Judith Belibi, said the donation will help boost stocks in the centre in terms of books, foodstuff and clothing, among others, and improve the wellbeing of the children. ‘Les Mariannes’ is made up of female workers of the French Embassy in Yaounde.
Its objective to assist children who are abandoned and those in distress. According to Corine Eteki, the NGO intends to assist another orphanage next week.
