Limbe I Council dish out minimum packages to primary schools

Head Teachers of Primary Schools in Limbe I sub division last Friday October 3 were recipients of their annual minimum package from the Limbe I Council.

The Mayor of the Limbe I Council, Mbua Rodanny Mokako alongside his collaborators gathered at the conference hall of the council in the presence of the head teachers.

Speaking on behalf of the Divisional Delegate of Basic Education, her representative thanked the Mayor for delivering the minimum package not long after the start of the school year as it is obtained in other places.

She explained that it is the wish of her ministry to see the head teachers and by extension, the pupils start the academic year with basic necessities for the teachers.

On his part, the Mayor said it was a brief event but noted that it is just a minimum package; hence the items distributed should be used very well so that the effect is seen in the results of the children.

According to Mayor Rodanny, the nation has young Cameroonians at heart, reason why through the councils, the state is making available money to be used to purchase items and give out to the various schools within each council area.

The Council, Mayor Rodanny said will stop at nothing to give the government a hand in the achievement of their objectives of ensuring free basic education to Cameroonians.

Head teachers who spoke to The SUN lauded the Council for not only providing didactic materials but for going the extra mile to provide medial accessories and kits to the schools.

The Head Teacher of Government School Bota Group II told THE SUN that, the timely gesture of the Mayor and his team will not be forgotten by the pupils of her school.

Another Head Teacher said in other parts of the Division, schools are yet to receive their own minimum package.

“I want to thank the dynamism of the young and dynamic mayor of Limbe I, I think he will go places the way he has started” remarked the Head Teacher of Government School Towe.

Items donated included, bold markers, scheme of work books, ledgers, black board rulers, chalk and medical and first aid boxes.

A total of FCFA 4.5 Million was spent by the council to provide these minimum packages to all Government Primary Schools in Limbe I municipality.

After receiving their various consignments, the head teachers signed acknowledging that they have received the packages, this we were informed was for the sake of accountability and traceability.

These two words according to the mayor are watchwords for success in local government especially in a council as cosmopolitan as Limbe I Council.
