Limbe II Council donates to teachers, the disabled

Head teachers of Public Primary schools in Limbe II have received didactic materials for proper take-off of the School Year.

The donations according the Mayor of Limbe II, Mayor Duncan Molindo, is in line with government policy through the Minimum Package Programme to the Ministry of Basic Education.

In a brief ceremony, Mayor, told the Head Teachers that the government prioritized education and intends to make education available to all Cameroonians especially from the rural areas.

He said that is the reason why they will always come back to ask for their support during political elections so that if they maintain their position they can do more to honour these promises.

According to the mayor, one Council will continue its best in the noble task of educating tomorrow’s leaders. He cautioned the head teachers to be diligent and use the materials for the right purpose to ensure efficiency and positive results.

After handing over the package comprising of books, chalk, cardboards and other school materials, the Head Teachers said they were very happy with the gesture of the Council.

The Inspector of Basic Education on her part said it is confirmed that local councils can carry out their functions in a decentralized system. She also promised that the books and materials will not end up in the houses of teachers; rather they will be made available in the classrooms for the students.

The Mayor also proceeded to make some donations from the Ministry of Social Affairs to some underprivileged and disabled citizens residing in Limbe II. To each he told them that “This is proof to show that the Government has not forgotten about them”.

The President of the Limbe Handicap Association said he was satisfied with this kind gesture from the council.

Mayor Duncan Molindo said he is satisfied to have successfully carried out government instruction of making available the support to the schools and the underprivileged.
