The Lord Mayor to the Limbe III council, Nseke Luma Dibotti on behalf of the subdivision has donated didactic materials to schools as credit from the government to boost the learning conditions of the schools.
The handing over ceremony took place on Monday, November 9 at the Bimbia council hall saw the presence of head teachers from seven different schools under the Limbe III subdivision, council workers, a delegation from the basic education family to observe fair share in the distribution.
The government primary schools of Bimbia, Man O war bay, Ijangele, Mabeta, Ijoh Mabeta, received materials such as books, register, chalk, typing sheets, pens, rulers amongst others.
The didactic materials came at a time when the school year is half gone as they have been suffering in the past months to teach the students.
Donating the materials, the Divisional Officer for Limbe III subdivision represented by Eposi Sally Epse Fotso called on the head teachers to make adequate use of the materials.
On his part the lord mayor, he apologized for the late donation of the materials given that the credits where available but frowned on the part of the treasury delayed in disbursing the money.
He said, “I hope that the materials received last year was of essential used to achieve the goals of the pedagogy and teach the children well”.
Mayor Nseke noted that the Limbe III council did not benefit from their credits but rather supported them where there were lapses in making the materials available.
He added that the buying was monitored and conducted by an official from the delegation of the basic education inspectorate to be able to buy quality learning materials.
“I pray that this year will mark a new beginning wherein the council will be appreciated more and criticized less”.
However the inspector of basic education limbe III subdivision, Ekosse Bernard, told The Sun, the materials do a lot to encourage the schools in their learning pattern as it is a necessity in the area.
“We leave in an enclave area where sometimes parent are not able to provide the necessary materials for schools like readers, books and others” he averred.
Ekosse added that this exercise has always set in as a steamer in that it enable students to perform well like the common entrance and first school leaving the examination of last year, all the students in all the seven schools even those in the creeks, scored a 100% making the district and their parent proud.
He reiterated that when the materials come late, it affects the teaching processing and some teachers go as far to remove their personal money to buy teaching materials for the school.
They sometimes depend on the parent-teacher association, PTA to get these materials.
Upon the donation, the head teachers where happy and expressed satisfaction in the equal sharing of the didactic material promising to be more effective in their teaching though some complained of insufficient teachers in their schools.
