It was a great day in Union Comprehensive College UCC, Kwa-Kwa Bakundu in Mbonge sub Division, recently, as Hon Atinda Martin Mboni, Member of Parliament, MP for Meme West Constituency, rescued of some 14 hard working students of that citadel of learning who couldn’t make it to school due to lack of fees.
According to Hon Atinda, education is the bedrock of any meaningful development, reason why he was touched by the fact that, intelligent and hard working students existed in UCC Kwa Kwa Bakundu, willing to go to school but lack the financial means.
Thus as an educationist and MP, he taught it wise to offer the students scholarship as part of his micro finance grant so that the students will be able to achieve their goal.
The Principal of the college, Noforu Aliance hailed the MP for coming to the rescue of the students whom he had regretted may likely not attend the academic year. However, he explained that the college is in dire need of electricity and is suffering from mass dropout and thus called on parents to encourage their children to go to school.
On his part, the President General of BAK’DU, Proprietor of the UCC and Board Chairman of the CDC, Hon Chief Justice Benjamin Mutanga Itoe, showered praise to the MP, for the initiative and called on the students to make good use of the opportunity given them, so as to achieve their dreams.
He also called on all present to continuously support the MP, as he has the interest of the constituency at heart. As proprietor of the College he promised more things in the pipeline for the school and encouraged the staff for their dedication in impacting knowledge to the students despite the miserable condition in which they work, as he promised will be a thing of the past in the days ahead.
