The new divisional delegate for Social Affairs in Fako division has called on the population to get closer to the delegation and benefit from the services it offers.

Mujingni Irene Mubat epse Manga made the statement during the handover ceremony chaired by FASDO for Fako, Nafongo Vincent, on Friday, October 24, 2014.

During the occasion, the outgoing delegate, Mbakwa Tayong Thomas who is now Technical Advicer number 2 at the ministry of Social Affairs, after 18 years of heading Momo, Mezam and Fako divisions, said working in Fako has been beautiful, but also challenging due to the many social problems emanating from the cosmopolitan nature of the division, but happy he was able to meet up with some of the difficulties.

“We are leaving problems that are pending, in the hope that the new delegate will continue from where we ended and perhaps improve on what we have done” he said.

Mbakwa Thomas acknowledged that Mujingni Irene is a seasoned social worker and believes she is going to put in her best, but cautioned her that the division is not an easy one, thus she should keep a cool head and be diligent in operating with her collaborators.

Mujingni Irene, who was before this recent appointment, Chief of social action service at Limbe Regional Hospital, appreciated the authorities for the confidence bestowed on her “It is a sign of recognition for a good work done, I was conscious of my work, but not the fact that there were eyes watching. It’s a motivation but also a challenge especially to me as a woman, leaving the technical part of social work to an administrative part, leaving a lower position to a higher one; I see it as something I have to work on, and I know am up to the task”.

Talking on how she is going to be engaged in the days ahead, the new delegate said “My focus in solving problems will be to identify the problems, use technical knowledge with the resources at our disposal to work with all collaborators in putting up something different and significant”.

She continued that “I urge the population to make use of the service that has been offered them by the government. The social service is that kind of dynamic service that touches almost every part of life, and people should not have particular notions about it, as many think it’s only a place where problems are solved; but they should come close to us and they will discover the rich experience that we have, which will help them build their homes and the division as a whole”.

Mujingni Irene joined the public service in 2004; in 2007, she became chief of social action service at Regional Hospital Buea, and in 2010, she was appointed to Regional Hospital Limbe in the same capacity, where she has been working until her appointment to head the social affairs delegation in Fako.
