Health Minister André Mama Fouda visited Ngoumou district hospital on Thursday to ascertain the damage caused by a recent storm in the town. The Ngoumou district hospital in the Department of the Mefou-and-Adams suffered damages from the downpour on February 9.

Just like the hospital, several other administrative buildings of this Department suffered the same fate. In order to measure the extent of the damage, the Minister of health visited the place on February 12.

Three hospitalization rooms, as well as the chapel of the hospital mortuary were affected thus greatly affecting the operation of the hospital. The cost of repairs was estimated at 4.9 million of F, we learnt.

"Instructions were given to start repairs imminently so that patients can be cared for under good conditions. On this occasion, the population benefited from the construction of a new district hospital. Everything was left in the care of administrative and municipal authorities.

If a one or two-hectare site is identified, it will be possible to project this new construction because the current hospital is a primary structure, Health Centre, before it became district medical Centre and today, a district hospital. And all these growths were not made in very good conditions," said André Mama Fouda.
