Sunday, August 31, 2014 has been recorded as a “Black Sunday” by Christians and non-Christians of the Misaje Parish, given that their few months old Sacristy was tampered with by some unidentified persons.

The parishioners went to church on Saturday only to discover that the church door was left wide open. It was discovered that the new Sacristy was forced open and uncounted Eucharists stolen. The Christians describe the act as abominable and sacrilegious. It was on the account of this that Sunday, August 31, was declared general mourning day within the Parish.

They organised a single-funeral-like mass in the main Parish church in Misaje; all dressed in total black or white and the Parish Priest prayed God Almighty to forgive the bandits for they did not know what they had done and that they should be caught to confess and repent.

After the said solemn mass, the Christians marched across the Misaje town to demonstrate their protest and disgruntlement.

Within the same week, a similar situation is reported to have taken place in the Mbve Church in Kumbo Diocese.

“Why are people, especially non-Catholics, so interested in the Eucharist?” the Priest questioned, adding that, since they themselves know the powers of the Eucharist and would want to use it for unholy missions, there must, some day, be a boomerang effect on them”.

That same week in Misaje, some computers and accessories were discovered stolen in GBHS Misaje by yet unidentified bandits and public opinion holds that even some of the Catholic Christians were hoarding suspects.

“As true Christians, should we hide criminals? Should we hide the truth? If we do, then, Christianity must have left us. Even the Law says, he who conceals a criminal is also a criminal and if caught will be treated same,” the Parish Priest lamented.
