The inhabitants of Bamenda have, in the past two months been coping with acute potable water scarcity.
Most taps are dry, many consequently have to trek very long distances in search of this commodity that has never been that scarce.
The problem began when the Mbatu water catchment facility stopped functioning. A good portion of the population but for UP Station with a different catchment unit is left in the dry.
Faced with a situation that officials qualify as precarious, the Cameroon water distribution company Camerounaise des Eaux, CAMWATER and the Army Rescue Unit have been providing emergency assistance to the thirsty population.
Since 27th December 2014, trucks have been supplying water to some 30 strategic points to cushion the effects of the scarcity.
The Regional Delegate of Water and Energy, Moki Ngando Emmanuel has assured the population that technicians are on the field to correct the situation.
