The people of the South West are mobilising to celebrate the 41st edition of the National Day come Monday, 20 May 2013 on the theme; "The Army And the Nation, Working Together Towards Meeting Security Challenges for an Emerging Nation." Committees have been holding meetings to give the event the significance it deserves.

In the South West Regional capital Buea, the Governor Mr. Bernard Okalia Bilai is leaving no stone unturned for a resounding success not only in Buea but also in all the administrative units of the Region. Military and civilian march past rehearsals have been taking place at Bongo's Square (Buea), the venue for the event on Monday. Come May 20, the march past in Buea will be in two phases: military and civilian under the distinguished patronage of the Governor.

The Military March Past entails the Gendarmerie, the Army, National Security, Penitentiary Administration, Customs, Forestry Administration, Ex-service Men and Motorized units. For the Civilian March Past, it involves the Red Cross, Scout movement, Primary schools, colleges, Professional Schools, Higher Institutions and Universities in Buea, Sports Federations, Youth Associations, Cultural Groups and legalized political parties.

Throughout the Region, reports peg on rehearsals and a coat of paint on the ceremonial venue. In Idenau, the grandstand has been painted and it was gathered that all the stakeholders are determined that nothing perturbs the event.
